Is this a foreboding of the poorly-scripted cheese that we’re going to get in this tale of a vengeful thief? Perhaps. Check it out here, via Entertainment Weekly:
You might be inclined to think that if you’re going to wear a disguise then you’d require more than a pair of glasses and a cowboy hat, right? Then again, Statham breaks all the rules. Personally, I’d enjoy more of the shirtless-oil-wrestling fights from his earlier movies. But I’m digging the silver wig.
Taylor Hackford (Love Ranch) directs this crime thriller about a thief who lives by a code of honor that includes never stealing money from people who need it and never harming the innocent. Statham is the titular character, Parker, who co-stars with everyone’s favorite big-bootied woman from the block, Jennifer Lopez (Maid in Manhattan), and Nick Nolte (The Thin Red Line).
It’s not the first time the morally-upstanding crime fighter has been seen on the big screen. This new adaptation is based on Don Westlake’s classic crime Parker novels. It had previously been adapted as Point Blank starring Lee Marvin back in the 60’s. Can Statham add some glamour to the retelling of this badass? What are your first impressions of the movie? Think it looks sexy and fun? Or, like me, have you witnessed more charisma in a wet hand towel? Either way, we can definitely expect a bunch of explosions and some Statham poses, like we see in all his other movies.
